Easter Morning Time Guide

$9.99

He is Risen, Indeed!

Easter is a celebration of the Resurrection. The Resurrection matters because Christ was crucified. Christ's death matters because He lived. Our Easter Morning Time plans are an invitation to spend several weeks contemplating exactly what we are celebrating during the Easter Season. This guide is scheduled to cover 4 weeks. If you have used any of our hymn or song studies, you will be familiar with some of the activities and format, as this is an expanded version of our hymn studies.

This Morning Time Guide will walk you through 4 subject areas: Scripture, History, Hymn, and Handicraft.

Scripture:

During the first two weeks of this guide, you'll be reading through and discussing key episodes from Christ's life and ministry as recorded in the book of John. During the third week, you'll read episodes from the events of Holy Week, and during the 4th week, you'll read of the Resurrection and Jesus's appearances post-Resurrection.

History:

The history focus is on the historical context that surrounds Christ's life. To do this, we schedule readings from the book Daily Life at the Time of Jesus by Miriam Feinberg Vamosh. These readings tie into the passage from the Bible read each day, and this additional book is required to complete the history portion of this morning time guide.

Hymns:

“Crown Him With Many Crowns”

“When I Survey the Wondrous Cross”

“Christ The Lord is Risen Today”

“How Deep the Father's Love for Us” (Modern)

Discussion questions and activity sheets for each verse of each hymn are included.

Handicrafts:

One handicraft is scheduled each week, with each handicraft connecting to some way in which art has been connected with Christian faith throughout the ages of the church.

Required or Optional Books:

This Morning Time Guide schedules one required book, if you would like to dive into the history portion of this guide:

Daily Life at the Time of Jesus by Miriam Feinberg Vamosh

We also schedule one Easter Devotional as an option

Darkest Night, Brightest Day by Marty Machowski

This book is entirely optional. You can opt to read the stories for those days directly from the Bible, and we include the Bible references in the schedule to make that easy for you.

Recommended Ages:

This unit is appropriate for elementary through middle school grades. I recommend this resource for ages 6 and up. If your oldest child is 6, you may want to wait, and for this year, choose a resource that is more designed for the early years.

Page Count: 60

Printing Instructions: For best results, open with Adobe Acrobat Reader DC and print from that program. Student activity pages in the appendix should be printed SINGLE-SIDED only.
