What is PUramente Preescolar?

I was passionate about raising bilingual kids, who spoke my husband’s native language…but…I wasn’t a native Spanish speaker myself.

I wanted Spanish to be a part of the music we listened to, the books we read, and the games we played, but it was so much easier to just turn to all the easy, cute, and fun English-language resources that were familiar to me.

I knew that many other bilingual families had to be in a similar situation. Together with my husband, I developed a literature-based preschool curriculum that supports the parent who has been speaking Spanish to their child during the baby and toddler years, and would like to integrate Spanish into their homeschool…but doesn’t quite know where to get started.

Maybe you aren’t a native speaker. Or maybe you are, but you didn’t go to school in Spanish and you’re not quite confident about choosing books and music in Spanish, or leading activities. This curriculum has been designed to make preschool in Spanish as easy as possible. If you’re confident enough in speaking Spanish that you can continue the conversation as long as you have the basic ideas laid out for you on the page, you can use this curriculum as the basis for a delightful, literature-based preschool for your child!

What can I Expect?

Puramente Preescolar consists of themed units, each containing 4 lessons centered around that particular theme. Each literature-based lesson is designed to take place over the course of a week. When you download your unit, you’ll find one document containing the outline for each lesson, any activity pages that go with the lessons, as well as visual cards that can be used to reinforce your child’s memorization of learning statements. You’ll also receive a Welcome Guide with notes on how to use the curriculum, the heart behind the categories I’ve picked, and a sample weekly schedule, showing what repetition (a key learning concept that I’ve based these lesson plans on) might look like over the course of this week.
